What Are the Differences Between a Cougar, Puma and MILF?

What's in a name, right? A rose by any other would smell just the same.

Let this puma's sexual power get you.

But that's for roses. What about when it comes to WILFs (Women You'd Like To...well, y'know)? Is there really a difference between cougars, pumas and MILFs? As it turns out, absolutely. And, the more you know, the more you can use the facts to turn the tide in your favor.

These 7 differences may help you play their game better and actually land one of these not-so-elusive but plenty sexy women.

A MILF May Be Perfectly Oblivious

MILFs are, first off, and by the very nature of the label, all about a man's intent: "Mother I'd Like to F**k". Get it?

A MILF is just someone's incredibly hot wife or hot mom who would not necessarily style herself as a "MILF". She also does not necessarily have to be a mother to kids. One the flip side, she could be quite young and be a mother, which would also make her a "MILF".

But even if she is a middle-aged (not mature yet) lady who takes care of herself in the gym, has a brood of kids, is proud of her body, and aware of her effect on men, she may still be totally uninterested in short-term or casual sex, given that she already has a family.

And while she knows her raw sexual power, she may also not actually refer to herself as a "MILF" -- even if she's single and open to sex with other men.

Pro-Tip: In Case You're Wondering

Yes! A MILF can eventually become a cougar. She may have kids that are grown up, who have left home and she's intent on chasing younger men. Or she may not have kids and translate her "MILF" label, given to her by men, into an embrace of "cougar".

A Cougar Likes Zero Committments

Cougars are women with intent: They specifically zero in on younger guys (for a variety of reasons -- and who can blame them? The attraction goes both ways!), and they like to keep commitments non-existent.

As far as mature women looking for sex, there's an image of cougars who are sexually rapacious and wild, barely able to contain their appetite or desires and trying to have sex with men wherever they can pick one up. But that's as ridiculous as painting all men with that same brushstroke.

Yes, there are cougars who are deeply insecure, who do act in this way, and are usually desperate to prove to themselves that they've "still got it". But the cougars who are wanted by men for their sexual prowess and allure are those women that keep it classy. They have no qualms in approaching men...but they're not going to do the chasing.

A Puma is a Cougar In Training

Women who are in their early to late 30s (some say, even those in their late 20s, though this is debatable), are known as "pumas". They may exhibit some of the same traits as cougars: intent to chase younger guys, moving in packs, into NSA sex and are not stressed, for the most part, about their bodies.

If you catch the right puma at the right time, dating one could be the best of both worlds. She's young enough to be in your generation and yet empowered enough, sexually speaking, to prefer to focus on the exploration of sex, not a commitment.

Pro-Tip: Approach Pumas with Caution

If they're not experienced enough, some of them could still display those "younger women" tendencies of mind-games and insecurity that you've come to dislike. They may also still be prone to looking for a long-term relationship, no matter what she says initially.

Neither MILFs Nor Cougars Compete

An unspoken rule between MILFs and Cougars is that they don't compete. They don't compete between age groups and they don't compete with friends.

Like all sexy pack animals, cougars and pumas move in packs but there could be some competition between the two -- given that they're going for the same age-group of men. However, cougars, like MILFs, generally don't compete with other women.

It's mostly because both MILFs and cougars have around the block enough times to now hold the power in their hands and, generally, are not too bothered about the chase because they're simply that confident about their sexual allure.

A "Boy-Toy" is Acceptable To All

Of course, when it comes to having a "boy-toy", depending on where they are personally in their individual lives, all three groups of females are open to the idea.

What makes this concept between the three possibly different is the level of commitment and the definition of NSA, casual and short-term sex. For example, a MILF looking for younger guys could be looking for a sugar baby or could actually want to go as far as bringing her kids into the picture.

A cougar could start off with NSA sex but, because her friends also date younger men, could want to bring her younger "boy-toy" to the party.

They Have Differing Levels of Security

MILFs and cougars are roughly the same when it comes to self-confidence and personal security.

They're likely both financially independent and take care of themselves. With a cougar, a certain amount of "natural aging" will still appear and takes its toll but she's either already nipped and tucked her way to keeping her looks or she's not too bothered about it.

This is not to say that she doesn't take care of herself! No. She absolutely values her body -- it's simply that she is comfortable in whatever she has.

A MILF, on the other hand, works hard to maintain her looks, takes time to pamper herself and upkeep her physical appearance. It is very much intentional.

And a puma, baby cougar that she is, is still looking around in surprise that certain parts of her body are inevitably showing signs of age, yet marginally surprised that she seems to have a newfound sexual power anyway.

Everything is about the attitude and how you engage it!

Age is Still Just a Number

At the end of the day, all we really know is two things: clearly, the lines between the three are fuzzy and, while age certainly does help to make that first classification, it's all about the attitude.

A woman could very well be in her early 30s and have the attitude and mindset of a "cougar", even though she's in "puma" territory. So which is she?

Let's just say, when she's on top of you, it doesn't really matter!
